The NDNA Awards 2020 are open to NDNA members only (apart from the Outstanding Contribution award) and will open for registration and voting on 21 November 2019.
Closing date for entries is 29 February 2020. Entries received after this deadline will not be accepted.
Only entries received online through the NDNA Nursery Awards voting website will be accepted excluding Network of the year and Outstanding contribution – entries can also be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
If an allegation or complaint against any awards registrant is received, the nursery will be contacted and a formal investigation may be conducted by NDNA. NDNA reserves the right to withdraw any nursery from the awards process if it has reasonable grounds to suspect that fraudulent voting has occurred or if it considers there has been any deliberate attempt to manipulate the result and If a complaint is made against the nursery that warrants further investigation.
NDNA board members and staff and their nursery settings are not eligible for entry.
2019 winners of both regional and national awards are not eligible for entry to the same award in 2020. E.g. A winner of the 2019 Nursery of the Year award North cannot enter the same award in 2020 but can enter another award such as Healthy Nursery of the Year or Innovative Practice. A winner of Practitioner of the Year 2019 cannot enter the same award in 2020 but could enter Manager of the Year if applicable.
Only one parent/carer vote per registered child at the nursery will be accepted.
All entrants will receive an acknowledgement email.
Shortlisting of all awards will take place during March/April 2020. Interviews by telephone and/or face to face and/or nursery visits may be conducted by NDNA staff or their representatives in order to provide additional information for the judging panel.
The decision taken by the judging panel will be final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
The prizes are as stated and cannot be changed.
NDNA Nursery Awards ceremony will take place on 5 June where the winners will be announced and subsequently published on the NDNA website, social media and in the NDNA membership magazine.
All entrants must be willing to take part in any publicity for the NDNA Awards.
For all awards, the nursery may be asked to provide additional information after their submission and after voting has closed.
NDNA cannot accept any responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any system, server, provider or otherwise which may result in any votes being lost or not properly registered or recorded
Anyone directly connected in any way with the delivery of the Awards, including NDNA trustees and staff are not eligible to vote.
Communication. We will send you emails about your entry into the NDNA awards. If you are shortlisted we will contact you to invite you to our awards ceremony on 5 June and to request your support for publicity for the awards.
Awards Specific Terms and Conditions
The Awards for 2020 fall under three categories: Public voting, Evidence based and nomination based awards.
Public voting awards:
NDNA Nursery of the Year
We award five regional, one national and one international winner for Nursery of the year. The UK regions are: North of England, Central England, South of England, Scotland and Wales.

Practitioner of the Year
Entries are open to anyone working in a day nursery or early years setting whose typical environment is the nursery floor. This includes: Room Leader, Nursery Assistant, Nursery Nurse, Nursery practitioner etc.
Entries must be nominated by a manager or colleague and evidence will need to be provided to support the nomination.
Evidence based awards:
Manager of the Year
Entries are open to anyone working in a day nursery that holds a managerial title and responsibility. This includes: Deputy Manager, General Manager, Nursery Manager, Nursery Director.
Entries must be nominated by a colleague within the setting and evidence will need to be provided to support the nomination.
Nomination based awards:
Outstanding Contribution Award
Winners of the 2019 NDNA Outstanding Contribution Award will not be eligible for the 2020 Outstanding Contribution title.
Nominations are open to individuals working in or on behalf of the nursery / early years sector.
